We can now offer Zalto’s first new glass in over a decade. At 195 millimetres tall and 113 millimetres wide, ‘Balance’ is slightly smaller than the Bordeaux and Burgundy glasses, while the signature Zalto angle is even more pronounced.
The idea behind ‘Balance’ was to design a glass that would bring out the best in new-wave artisanal/low-intervention wines that emphasise texture and structure as much as fruit. Michael Hinterleitner, whose family owns Zalto, explains, “We have been testing different prototypes for two years to create a glass that harmonises certain aspects of wines not often found in conventional winemaking.”
So, after two years of intensive tastings and discussions with winegrowers and sommeliers, ‘Balance’ was born. Zalto recommends the glass for deep, complex whites–Chardonnay and full-bodied Riesling, for example–to fully show their depth and subtlety while harmonising aromas and flavours without concentrating one element.
The latest Zalto glass provides the ideal space for wines to fully develop their depth and subtlety while harmonising aromas and flavours with great precision. Zalto also recommends the glass for skin-macerated whites, and reds made with high proportions of bunches.
