Fruit for the MJW Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from two Voyager Estate vineyard blocks: the "Old Block" planted in 1978; and Block 12 from the North vineyard which was planted in 1995. Both plots are planted to the Houghton clone, and the soils are stony and gravelly over a stone and clay subsoil. Both vineyards are sustainably farmed.
The fruit from each block was hand-harvested between the 5th and 7th of April 2018. The fruit was de-stemmed and as many whole berries were retained as possible. The parcels were fermented separately in open fermenters with regular, gentle pump-overs before being pressed to barrels (46% new) for 18 months maturation.
