Screwcap. As followers of Domaine Comte Armand will know, Leroux has a long history with this variety. This year, Leroux went back to his historical source in Bouzeron to supplement his own vines; a parcel of 50-year-old vines in Meursault’s Les Belles Roses climat. The vine material in both vineyards is of the high-quality, low-yielding Aligoté Doré cultivar. The 2021 fermented and aged in seasoned 12-hectolitre ovals and in glass Wine Globes. Tasted from oak, the wine was more aromatic and racier, while the wine from glass offered more mid-palate density. The blend of the two is a winning formula.

Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Aligoté 2021

Reviews

“A good crop from domaine vines below Meursault, in fact more volume in 2021 than 2022. Clear pale lemon and lime. A beautiful nose, classical elegance, fine boned, juicy with a light greengage note. Very well balanced.”
87-88 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“The 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté has quite a pungent and well-defined bouquet that expresses the variety with style. The palate is well balanced with grapefruit, a touch of quince and fine weight. It has a vibrant and lightly spiced finish. This is just an excellent Aligoté that is bright and vivacious.”
89-91 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
