Diam. Leroux has released only one Les Genevrières bottling this year, so the 2021 is a blend from two old-vine parcels in the gravelly limestone of the lower part (dessous) of Genevrières along with the 0.12-hectres of estate vines in the higher section (dessus) of the vineyard. The latter, 60-year-old vines, lie close to Perrières, where the soils are full of hard, Bathonian limestone. Since 2014, these vines have been biodynamically farmed.

Reviews

“The wines from upper and lower Genevrières have been made together. Pale lemon and lime. Quite fine, distinguished even. A racy structure, plenty behind, even a tannin or two, while keeping the style of the vintage. Fine long aftertaste. Very good fruit acid balance.”
92-94 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“This is come-hither on the nose with a vast array of enticing smells: baked apple, Life Cereal, vanilla bean and even drying flowers. There is good mid-palate stuffing, and this is destined to stay a while on its fine lees. Leroux used no new barrels on the whites in 2021.”
94 points, Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin Burgundy Report 2021
