Diam. Located in the northwest corner of the Grand Cru slope, below Preuses, Bougros has a notable south-easterly exposure and the steepest gradient of all the Chablis Grand Cru vineyards. We like Jasper Morris’ evocative description of the Bougros style, as “like being smothered in a great big woolly jumper—big, fat, soft and round.” This speaks to the texture of the wines from here. Morris goes on to describe the wines from the top of the vineyard—the sector from which this wine hails—as also displaying the classical minerality of Chablis. The wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels with regular bâttonage and the wine is bottled after 18 months.

“Slightly paler yellow colour, with a characteristic spicy bouquet, chunky but not overly exuberant. There is notable power here, and this is very consistent right across the palate, more ripe citrus than white fruit in style. Long and well made.” 91-94 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

“From the central heights of Bougros, this is very aromatically showy and very attractive for it. Lemon blossom, spring tree blooms and peach pit deliver a distinctive, aromatic wine. There is a classy, chalky Chablis tension on the finish to keep the smooth palate in line. This saw nothing but older and traditional 228-liter barrels.”
