Les Fuées is a truly great 4.38-hectare terroir sandwiched between Les Cras to the south and Les Bonnes Mares to the north. The finest examples are wonderfully expressive, textural wines full of wild fruit, floral perfume and, with time, forest floor/autumnal notes and exotic spice. Barthod farms a quarter-hectare of 90-year-old vines, well positioned on the mid-slope where the soil is white marl with fossilised oysters, and the mother rock is similar to part of Bonnes Mares. The vines were cropped at a measly 20 and 10 hl/ha respectively, so our offering is sadly even smaller than usual!

Reviews

“Unwinding in the glass with a deep bouquet of red berries, raspberries and cherries mingled with hints of exotic spices, pomelo and smoke, the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées is medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with a deep core of fruit girdled by racy acids and chalky tannins, concluding with a mineral finish.”
94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“A sound medium deep purple. There is some depth and certainly class to the nose, with a richer thread of fruit in top of the bone structure, even some darker fruit on top of a fresher red under current. The raspberries return very nicely at the finish.”
92-95 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
