The wine has been in the Bachelet-Monnot portfolio since 2012 and is drawn from four parcels of mature vines that average 30 years of age. The key terroir is the lieu-dit Les Bras, which is a continuation of the Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière. Le Chainey provides the balance. These vineyards are exceptionally chalky and, in ’22, delivered a gorgeous white with a lovely, creamy midpalate and long, rocky close.

Bachelet-Monnot Santenay Blanc 2022

Reviews

“The 2022 Santenay Blanc has a refined bouquet, a bit closed at first despite coaxing. The well-balanced palate’s 20% new oak is a little prominent at the moment, imparting a creaminess towards the finish, with hints of pralines and white chocolate. Just give it a couple of years once in bottle.”
88-90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
“Grown on a light chalky soil, on the rocks next to Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière. A little yellow tint to the colour. The fruit has a ripe apple aspect, then clean and fresh on the palate, more in white fruit, with a crisp acidity. Medium personality.”
87-88 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
