Champagne Jacques Selosse Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Version Originale NV (Base 17, Disg. Oct. 23)

Base 2017. Disgorged October 2023. Version Originale (VO) is a blend of three successive vintages from Avize, Cramant and Oger, but there is more Avize fruit, and the vineyards are mainly on the higher slopes (greater than 15% gradient). The soils, therefore, have less clay, and the vines tap more directly into the chalk. This cuvée spends six or seven years on lees and receives a tiny dosage between zero and 1.3 g/L. It is perhaps the brightest and most transparent of the wines we offer here, but there is still plenty of texture and generosity.
