The red and white Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune in today’s offer are the first release from the domaine’s young agroforestry project in Nantoux. Perched above Pommard, Nantoux is a strikingly pretty village known for its pale pink limestone quarries and hiking trails between vineyards and moors, woods and meadows. The Dancers have planted two hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay up here, interspersed with all kinds of local trees. Although not the sole reason for investing in the area, it was hoped these vines would alleviate some of the pressure brought on by the domaine's low yields in recent harvests. So far things aren’t going exactly to plan; although the Nantoux vineyard largely escaped the April frost, hail struck the site a few days before harvest. In the end, only two barrels were produced. It’s a crunchy, vibrant and racy white Burgundy.
