Established in 1995, Toolangi Vineyard is in the Dixons Creek subregion of the Yarra Valley, adjoining the Toolangi State Forest. This single site vineyard on fine clay loam produces wines with distinctive personalities, each wine showing a strong sense of place. Fruit was hand-picked between the 7th and 14th of March as 2020 was a long and cool growing season in the Yarra Valley. Winter rains were substantial and by the end of spring we had full and healthy vine canopies. The 2020 wines reflect their part of the world and the cool climate. A combination of Mendoza, Gingin and I10V3 clones. Fruit is crushed and pressed to French oak barriques, puncheons and a foudre (10% new) for primary fermentation. Partial malolactic conversion followed by 8 months on lees in oak.
