Windows Estate Petit Lot Chenin Blanc 2023

Drawn from the first vines planted on the property in 1996, this is a Chenin Blanc inspired by the Loire Valley’s scintillating, textural wines—nothing like the insipid style popularised in Western Australia during the ’90s. The vineyard sits on gravelly loam over clay and is naturally high in minerals. The vines are planted with a north-to-south orientation, allowing for greater retention of mineral characters and natural acid. Hand-picked at first light and chilled, the grapes were pressed as bunches (with only the free-run juice retained) and transferred to two-year-old French oak barriques for spontaneous fermentation and maturation on lees for 12 months.
