Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes 2021

Les Chaumes is situated just below Aux Malconsorts and La Tâche. It has a little more clay and iron in the soil than most of the surrounding 1er Cru sites, and this tends to bring more depth and structure than we might typically expect of a young Vosne. With age, these tannins melt, and the Vosne typicity comes to the fore, exploding with perfume and texture. Lachaux farms 0.74 hectares in the middle sector of Les Chaumes, with rows running from the top to the bottom. Very typically, this is tightly wound, even if it clearly has a rounder, more seductive core. You could think of it as a bigger sibling of Hautes Maizières, with a powdery structure making it clear that this needs time in the cellar.
