In a further measure to maintain and even improve the quality of the Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines, this Morey-Saint-Denis was created in 2018. It is essentially from the plot called Cabotte (planted 2018, top right of the vineyard), blended with the youngest vines in the clos. These are mostly vines that have been regrafted with mass-selection material from the clos itself; vines graded as Pinot très fin, as they are the lowest yielding and produce the highest quality. To mitigate the youth of these vines, Noli crops at just two bunches per vine! The 2022 matured in used barrels and fermented entirely without stems. It’s an opulent, exuberant and layered expression of the clos and frankly, extremely fairly priced. What other (outstanding) wine from a famed Grand Cru can be secured at this price level?
