Viña Bonita is a plot of very old vines (planted 1925) at 735 meters altitude. The soil here is shallower than at Bernabeleva's other sites, with vine roots almost immediately hitting the compacted granite bedrock below the surface. It is south-facing and more exposed than Arroyo del Tórtolas resulting in a more full-blooded, dense wine, although still with that tell-tale Bernabeleva finesse. This was matured in used, 600-liter oak barrels, combined with some six months in stainless steel to settle down after blending and before bottling.
