This is a blend of Chardonnay (95%) and Aligoté (5%) from a single Quindalup block, certified both Organic and Biodynamic. Blind Corner's 150 vines of seven-year-old Aligoté are believed to be Marg's only plot of this variety. With time, Gould is hoping to graft over extra Chardonnay vines, and from there, select the best material to propagate further. The Chardonnay is from low-yielding Gin Gin vines that are now over 20 years old. Gould has painstakingly converted them to cane pruning (from the established spur pruning).
The parcels were hand-harvested, foot stomped and naturally fermented in a mix of concrete egg (20%) and old barrels (80%). It only received a rough filtering to, as Gould puts it, “keep the wine as close to the vineyard as possible.”
