Lying just under Les Marconnets, Les Peuillets shares a border with Beaune’s Blanche Fleur vineyard. If you’ve ever visited Savigny, you would have passed the vineyard on your left as you enter the valley heading towards the village. The domaine tends a 0.57-hectare parcel of 1971-planted vines. A lot of sand runs through the argilo-calcaire here, which is partly responsible for the wine’s finesse and its seductive core of sweet, red fruits. Crafted with 20% whole bunches.

Domaine des Croix Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets 2021

Reviews

"The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune les Peuillets 1er Cru, matured in around 20% new oak and 20% whole bunches, has another pretty nose with cranberry and wild strawberry notes and a touch of oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, pliant tannins. There's a little more weight on the mid-palate with a structured, slightly graphite finish that lingers. The 2021 is cool, calm and collected."
90-92 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
“The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets was a little introverted when I tasted it, showing a touch of reduction (perfectly normal at this stage of élevage), but it opens in the glass to exhibit notes of red berries, lilac and blood orange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate framed by powdery tannins.”
90-92 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Mid crimson, a slightly sterner bouquet, less lifted, less fluid. Weightier with a sterner structure. This was vinified with a little sulphur. Still a good wine but lacks the éclat of, for example, the straight Savigny. Not such good pinot plant material I suspect. Drink from 2025-2030.”
87-89 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
