Lamarche owns a solid half-hectare in Les Chaumes, a superb vineyard under Aux Malconsorts and La Tâche. The vines here are now between 30 and 40 years old. Lamarche notes that Chaumes gives her a wine reminiscent of Clos de Vougeot, an assertion that takes on more significance when you taste her sublimely elegant expression of that Grand Cru. From just half a hectare of vines, it is very fine boned and yet the perfumed fruit is shot through with earthy, rocky complexity.
