Natural cork. Leroux’s parcel within Bonnes-Mares was planted in 1983 and has always been managed organically. Like many of Leroux’s Grand Crus, it’s tiny (just 0.1 hectares), and it neighbours Christophe Roumier’s vines in the southern sector of the Grand Cru, on the Chambolle side. The soil type in this part of Bonnes-Mares is often referred to as terres blanches; it’s rocky and rich in limestone and fossils. In 2021 Leroux included 15% whole bunches. Only two barrels were produced.

Reviews

“From the upper part, white soil. Very stylish. High toned (but not volatile), all in a brisk red fruit. Crunchy finish with a certain vanilla touch, and very good length. Doesn’t have the wild streak of some Bonnes Mares, especially those towards Morey St-Denis.”
92-95 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“This is coming exclusively from the white soils, and it shows that in its lift and vigor. The aromatics are elegant with spice bazar and fresh flowers, while the palate brings on lightly leather tannins and mouthwatering acidity. The millefeuille of flavors on the finish suggests this has a long way to go.”
95 points, Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin Burgundy Report 2021
