Natural cork. Leroux only produced between 500 and 600 litres from this tiny parcel in 2020. The terroir in Au-Dessus is rockier than the rest of the vineyard, resulting in a very mineral expression of this site with great perfume and freshness. The vines in 2021 produced tiny bunches and berries, which were fermented with 70% whole bunches and raised in a single, one-year-old barrel.

Benjamin Leroux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Au-Dessus des Malconsorts 2021 (1500ml)

Reviews

“One barrel (maximum has been 1.5) made. Bright red crimson. A fresh red fruit not showing much detail. One year old wood adds a little structure and there is an attractive tingle from the whole bunches (two-thirds) and a long finish.”
91-94 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“There is just about one barrel of the 2021 Vosne-Romanée Au Dessus de Malconsorts 1er Cru this year. This has a fragrant bouquet with plush red cherries and crushed strawberries, with a touch of orange blossom; the two-thirds whole bunches are seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins. It's velvety smooth with a very polished and seductive finish. Wonderful.”
92-94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
