These days this wine is sourced primarily from a mature, gravelly, organically farmed site in Pont de l'Isère that has not seen any herbicides or pesticides for 10 years. This site is owned and managed by a good friend and neighbour of the Graillot clan, and the vigneron and producer work very closely together. It is this recent collaboration that has seen the Equinoxe cuvée reach ever-greater heights. Roughly 80% de-stemmed, the wine was fermented in concrete tank and large wooden tronconique vats (with a degree of carbonic maceration) and aged (also in tronconique vats) for nine months.

Reviews

“Mineral-accented dark fruit and floral aromas are energized by a jolt of spicy black pepper. Fleshy, juicy and nicely concentrated, offering finely etched boysenberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors that tighten up on the back half. Densely packed yet energetic as well, finishing with sharp clarity, smooth tannins and strong persistence. Made from fruit grown on the granitic soils of Saint-Jean-du-Muzols” 91-93 points
92 points, Josh Reynolds, Vinous
"An excellent early-drinking syrah from serious pedigree... This is an urgently fruity Crozes, bursting with black fruit that’s tinged with earthy savoury notes and pleasantly supple tannins, light enough to make this a good contender for being served chilled."
92 points, Jane Parkinson, Halliday Wine Companion Magazine
“Here’s a Syrah that Gamay lovers will appreciate… Kirsch. That juicy, concentrated, glossy sweetness of stewed black cherries (it’s a good thing). There are red and black plums in the mix too with a peppery pinch. Add wet leaves or dead flowers, if you will. Sandy tannins, and so much sweet-sour flavour, juby blackcurrants, black olives. Plush and succulent to taste but holding your attention with fine detail. Kindred to some Beaujolais crus. Moreish.”
