The Syrah style at Windows Estate is highly perfumed and refined, with finesse and elegance taking precedence over power and weight. The soils are loam over gravel, ensuring good drainage. Chris spends most of his time in the vines, paying particular attention to careful, sympathetic pruning and canopy management. The result is pristine fruit with rich, captivating flavour, high-toned pepper and spice. The fruit fermented with a small parcel of bunches before being basket-pressed to French oak barrels for 12 months’ maturation. A dash of Viognier from the easternmost point on the estate’s Home Block was included in the ferment, boosting the already lifted aromatic profile. A stunning, cool-climate Syrah of incredible class and style.
