Arnoux-Lachaux Grand Cru Latricières-Chambertin 2021

Arnoux-Lachaux first produced this Grand Cru in 2007. It originates from the purchase of a 0.53-hectare parcel of 58-year-old vines that borders Clos de la Roche. This is the highest, coolest part of the Grand Cru, with a section of the vines surrounded by woods on three sides. The rocky parcel is ploughed by horse and produces outstanding Grand Cru Burgundy every year—a wine about tension, line and perfume. Wow. This is simply a brilliant example. It has it all: intense yet crystalline fruit, a deep mineral core and the balance and fine structure to age. You feel the cool site with the intense mineral line, yet it is not at all austere; rather, it’s an expansive wine of great finesse. For the second year running, this is one of the domaine’s best performers and a genuinely great 2021.
