Lamarche’s 1.35 hectares of vineyards in Clos de Vougeot are situated across three terroirs. There are two small plots near each other at the top of the clos near the château, in the area known as Montiotes Hautes. Another is in the middle, on the Vosne side in the area historically named Petits Maupertuis. The last parcel is lower down near the RN74, in the zone known as Baudes Basses. The parcels are picked together and co-ferment in open-top wooden vats. As you might expect, Nicole Lamarche vinifies a much finer, prettier expression of Clos de Vougeot—very Vosne in style. In fact, Vougeot seldom comes this lacy and elegant.
“Light to medium red, less nose than for the Echezeaux, but at least as much fruit on the palate with both more tannins and acidity. This may yet put on more weight in the rest of its elevage. More energy at the back.” 92-95 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
