The 2020 harvest was the first time that the Place of Changing Winds team sourced a batch of fruit from an exciting new grower in Harcourt, on the granitic sands of Mount Alexander. They only worked with a single fermenter this year in order to test the site, blending the batch with some of the lighter, declassified ferments from the Heathcote Syrah.
The cooler Harcourt site yields more savoury, spicy Syrah and, from 2021 POCW will make a specific wine from this site. An earlier drinking expression, it's already highly aromatic, bursting with flavours of juicy blue fruits, perfumed violets and spice. The palate is vibrant with a silky body, underpinned by driving acidity and a nip of graphite-like tannins.
