Verget’s Grand Elevage label provides a home for declassified parcels from some of the best Guffens-Heynen and Verget vineyard plots. The lion’s share of the 2020 Bourgogne hails from Guffens’ marquee Pierreclos vineyards on clay soils. The balance comes from the neighbouring villages of Viré and Charnay. The wines were vinified entirely in used barrels. The fermentations ended in early December and the wine’s maturation continued for eight months with bâtonnage.
