This year’s wine, from the oldest block on the property, is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (97%) and Petit Verdot (3%). The vines are planted on a fractured laterite/ironstone ridge that pops up in the middle of the property with a north-south incline, allowing for excellent drainage. The fruit is handpicked, sorted, crushed and destemmed before fermentation in small open-top fermenters. The ferments are plunged by hand and macerate for an extended period before being basket pressed to old French barriques for 18 months. This smooth, stylish wine displays all the hallmarks of a classic Margaret River Cabernet.

Reviews

“The attention to detail at Windows Estate is second to none – from the way the fruit is grown (organically certified), Poussard pruning and picking by hand through to the gentle, intuitive winemaking. Nothing forced; it’s all about reflecting a sense of place and it’s done brilliantly. Proof right here. A superfine and elegant wine with dabs of cassis, blackberries and mulberries, not fruity, though this is on a savoury spectrum. It's ferrous, with dark chocolate, a whiff of raspberry leaf and baking spices. The mid-weighted palate is coated in cocoa powder tannins and fine acidity. Beautiful today yet will last some distance.”
96 points, Jane Faulkner, The Wine Companion
