An incredible wine. Jobard’s 0.7-hectare parcel of 35-year-old vines lies next to the iconic Genevrières cabotte (or workers’ cottage) in Genevrières Dessous. Year in, year out, this is a wine of great purity and intensity—a personality Jobard attributes to the quality of his vine material, a mass selection planted in the 1960s. “Here, we always get well-formed berries; we never see under- or over-ripe grapes. The fruit is always well-balanced with good pH and incredible acidity,” he says. This year, Jobard was down 70% in this vineyard, so we get even less of this tiny-production wine.

“Wildly aromatic on the nose, this smells of chamomile, herbal tea and scented candles. Freshly picked apples pile onto the palate. There is zippy acidity to nicely corral the succulent sweetness and satiny mid-palate intensity. This was ready to be bottled when I tasted it.”
