It goes without saying that it’s great to have one of our best-selling and best-value imports back in stock after a lengthy hiatus. Our relationship with Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille stretches back over a decade now. We were compelled to visit their corner of the Loire Valley after reading Kermit Lynch sing the family’s praises in his classic book, Inspiring Thirst. “Salvard make the most drinkable, quaffable Sauvignon Blanc I have ever tasted,” wrote Mr Lynch. “It does not have the weight of a Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé, but don’t hold that against it because it does have a fresh, inviting perfume and a balance and lightness of touch that allows it to flow.” Suffice it to say, Kermit was onto something. The brothers’ latest release is another winner. It has that irresistibly vibrant cool-stream-over-stone burst of fresh citrus and herbs that we love in the best wines from the region and concludes with a lovely, crisp, chalky finish. As it says on the back label, it marries perfectly with long days, warm nights and great company. We wrote that, not Kermit.
